Charlotte guides her clients through the estate planning, probate, and trust administration processes with the depth of knowledge and compassion necessary to help her clients make well-informed decisions.
Overview
Charlotte’s practice focuses on estate planning, probate and estate administration, and trust administration.
Estate Planning
From simple to complex estate plans, Charlotte advises individuals on all aspects of estate planning, including asset protection planning, probate avoidance planning, and estate tax planning. She combines her experience and personal attention to drafting wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, declarations of disposition of last remains, celebration of life decisions and directions, delegations of parental powers, HIPPA authorizations and releases, estate planning for non-resident spouses, and prenuptial and marital agreements. She also assists clients with estate planning-related real property matters and transactions.
Probate + Estate Administration
Charlotte counsels grieving clients on probate and estate administration following the death of a loved one. She is well-versed in Colorado’s probate code and has considerable experience guiding personal representatives and heirs through both formal and informal, simple, and complex probate administrations.
Trust Administration
Charlotte assists clients in Colorado and throughout the United States with trust administration. She is well-versed in Colorado’s Uniform Trust Code and uses this knowledge to assist clients who are serving as trustees or are beneficiaries seeking to understand their interests in an inheritance. Her experience allows her to educate and advise clients through the trust administration process, including collecting and inventorying assets, filing estate tax returns, negotiating settlement agreements, and making distributions to maintain asset protection and maximize tax efficiency.
Relevant Work Experience
Prior to becoming an attorney, Charlotte gained valuable experience as a licensed professional counselor, serving on the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team for area hospitals, and teaching courses on ethics, research, and writing. She utilizes that background in her law practice to help her clients identify relational and other issues that may affect their estate planning goals, communicate complex legal issues in an understandable way, and come alongside clients when they are grieving the loss of a loved one.
