Justin’s practice focuses on civil litigation and arbitration, construction, insurance, and personal injury matters.

Civil Litigation + Arbitration

Justin represents individuals and businesses in state and federal courts and in national and international arbitration forums. He handles multi-million-dollar cases for both local and national plaintiffs and defendants, including those concerning construction, personal injury, wrongful death, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, insurance coverage, large estate administration, residential and commercial leases, and residential and commercial real estate.

Construction

Justin represents clients in all aspects of construction law. He assists local, national, and international clients in negotiating and drafting construction management contracts, design-build contracts, and EPC contracts with up to $2B in value. Justin also helps his clients develop appropriate documentation and correspondence during project execution, advises project management on how to successfully adjust when problems arise before, during, and after performance, and oversees his clients’ mechanic’s liens and substitution bond claims. When necessary, he litigates construction disputes and has done so on a variety of projects, including multi-million dollar local, national, and international civil and industrial construction projects; multi-million dollar national and international mining projects; federal procurement bid protests to the Government Accountability Office in Washington D.C.; and residential and commercial building construction defect actions under Colorado’s Construction Defect Action Reform Act.

Insurance

Justin is well-versed in insurance law. He represents individuals and businesses on insurance coverage and bad faith disputes related to CGL policies, EL policies, homeowners policies, automobile policies, payment and performance bonds, and Additional Insured coverage.

Personal Injury

Justin represents individuals and corporations, including Global Fortune 500 companies, in the workplace and jobsite personal injury cases. For example, he represents clients in the pre-litigation claims process, investigation, and litigation in matters involving severe injury and wrongful death in vehicular and workplace accidents, product liability, and related insurance coverage disputes.

At Rice University, Justin started for four years on the baseball team, receiving all-conference and post season honors, and playing in the 1997 and 1999 NCAA College World Series. After being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1999 following his senior season, Justin decided to remain at Rice to continue his education.

Out + About

Outside of the office, Justin enjoys spending time with his two children, barbequing his beloved brisket, bow-hunting, cycling, fly-fishing, golfing, and traveling. He coached youth baseball and has been the Vice-President of the North Boulder Little League – the most successful little league in Colorado history. Justin was born in Texas but later moved to Boulder, Colorado. While at Boulder High School, Justin played on the 1992 6A State Championship football team, kicking the winning field goal.
